Femur stress fracture

The femur is the long bone in the top of the leg. Stress fractures can happen anywhere on the bone but usualy happen at the points of greatest stress. These stress points are at the joints and in the center of the bones as seen in the picture.

A Femur stress fracture happens when muscles become fatigued and are unable to absorb added shock. Eventually, the fatigued muscle transfers the overload of stress to the bone causing a tiny crack called a stress fracture.
