Metatarsal stress fractures definition
There are 5 Metatarsal bones in each foot. A stress fracture can happen to any of these bones but the most common is the fifth metatarsal with is the one on the outside edge of the foot.
Metatarsal stress fracture happen when muscles become fatigued and are unable to absorb added shock. Eventually, the fatigued muscle transfers the overload of stress to the bone causing a tiny crack called a stress fracture. |
